Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of England’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine after the Manchester United star picked up a knock in their FA Cup victory over Fulham on Sunday.
Nick Pope of Newcastle and Mason Mount of Chelsea have also withdrawn from Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Fraser Forster, goalkeeper for Tottenham, is the only replacement selected by Southgate, who named a squad of 25 players last week.
Given his stellar performance since the World Cup, Rashford’s absence is a devastating blow.
This season, the 25-year-old has scored a career-high 27 goals for United, 19 of which have come since his return from international duty in Qatar, where he scored three times in five matches.
