Goalkeeper: Victor Valdes (Middlesbrough)
The Spanish stopper impressed this weekend putting in a fine display to keep a clean sheet and help his team earn a hard fought point. Valdes pulled off a number of saves at crucial times and was what stood between Watford and 3 points.
Right Back: Seamus Coleman (Everton)
Coleman was a standout performer as Everton thrashed Manchester City 4-0. The defender was imperious at the back as he helped his team contain and deal with all of City’s possession. The Irishman not only helped his team to a clean sheet but also provided the assist for the fourth goal which wrapped up proceedings at Goodison Park.
Centre Back: David Luiz (Chelsea)
The Brazilian defender was in fine form this weekend as he helped his team to yet another clean sheet under Antonio Conte. Luiz was his combative self as he worked tirelessly throughout the game to ensure that Leicesters attackers had no space to find a goal.
Centre Back: Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)
The French defender put in another quality performance for his team against Swansea City. Rock solid at the back, the Gunners star was magnificent in marshaling his defence as Arsenal kept a much-needed clean sheet. Putting his body on the line, the Frenchman made a number of important blocks throughout the game.
Left back: Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)
Alonso helped inspire a Diego Costa-less Chelsea to a comfortable win over defending champions Leicester. The Spanish dfender was unstoppable going forward getting his name on the score sheet with not one but two well-taken goals. Alonso matched his attacking display with his defensive one as he helped Chelsea keep yet another clean sheet as Blues continue to fly high.
Right Wing: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
A regular feature in the team of the week, Alexis Sanchez put in another quality performance against stragglers Swansea. The Chilean was relentless on the field as his energy and work rate was as high as ever. He matched his hard work with a goal 73 minutes he scored Arsenal’s fourth goal to make no doubt of the result.
Centre Midfield: Marko Arnautovic (Stoke City)
Arnautovic was the stand out performer in the Sunderland vs Stoke City match up as his two goals proved to be the difference in the match with Stoke winning 3-1. The Austrian was sensational in the opening 30 minutes as Stoke raced to a 3-0 lead. He scored two of those goals with the second coming from a delightful bit of football as Arnautovic played two consecutive one-two’s to work his way into the box and he had the finish to match.
Centre Midfield: Tom Davies (Everton)
In just his second league start for the Toffees, Davies put in a performance beyond his years to help Everton romped to victory. Th18-year-oldld ran the game from midfield as his energy proved vital in stopping City going forward. Davies was just as good going forward playing a number of quality through balls and passes and then on 79 minutes, he put the game to bed as he finished off a move, which he started, with a delightful little dink over the City goalkeeper.
Left Wing: Kevin Mirallas (Everton)
Another Everton player in the team this week and deservedly so, Mirallas was in fine form as his beautifully weighted through ball to Romelu Lukaku saw Everton take the lead. The winger then got himself on the score sheet just after halftime with a massive goal which took the game away from Manchester City. The Belgian playmaker was a constant threat going forward and put in work, up and down the touchline making sure City couldn’t get back into the game.
Striker: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
The Spurs striker was back to his best this weekend as he fired in a hat-trick against West Brom. The English striker opened the scoring on 12 minutes with a calmly taking goal before scoring his second and third late on to wrap up a fine performance and well and truly lay down Spurs marker for the title. Kane finished with a treble on the day, which could have been more if not for Ben Foster in goal.
Striker: Abel Hernandez (Hull City)
In a must-win match under a new manager, Hernandez stood up and put in his performance of the season helping his team come back from a goal down to win 3-1. The striker’s first contribution was when he found the equalizer on 32 minutes with a well-taken goal. Hernandez then put his team ahead just after the restart in a goal that changed the game and helped Hull to their first win under new manager Marcos Silva.
