SASoccermag editor Wade Pretorius challenges South African sprinter Akani Simbine to put his Premier League knowledge to the test.

UPDATE: After Simbine’s beloved Chelsea came unstuck at home on Friday (our pundit also had the Blues to win that one), the star athlete raced out of the blocks with four correct picks in a row to take a slender lead before the Everton win. With both player’s tied heading into Sunday, our pundit correctly predicted three out of the four matches to claim the win and the bonus point for more six or more correct scores.

Final score: Akani Simbine 4 – 9 Wade Pretorius

Simbine is the current record 100m record holder and finished fifth in the event at the recently concluded Rio Olympic Games.

‘I played soccer until I was 17,’ Simbine told SASoccermag.

‘I used to play right wing – where I could take advantage of my pace.’

Now 22, Simbine has hung up his boots to focus on his spikes as he competes around the world against the very best in the business. The Olympics were his first major international finals and the experience of competing against Usain Bolt and American Justin Gatlin will stand him in good stead to become world champion in the future.

The track star is a massive Chelsea fans and believes Antonio Comte has the team in a good place after a difficult time under Jose Mourinho.

He believes Friday’s match will see plenty of goals and his Blues come out on top.

‘I believe I’m my team!’ beams the talented athlete.
