Lucas Radebe has been included in the Top 100 Premier League footballers by English newspaper The Telegraph.

The former Leeds United defender was included on the updated list at number 78, beating the likes of Alexis Sanchez (100), JayJay Okocha (93), Roberto di Matteo (87) and Paul Ince (80).

At the age of 20, ‘Rhoo’ signed for Kaizer Chiefs in 1990 before a making the move to the Premier League four years later.

From 1994 to 2005 Radebe made 201 appearances including a spell as captain of the side in the 1999-2000 season where he led the side to its best season, finishing third in the Premier League. Leeds then made a run at the Champions League before eventually being knocked out in the semi-finals.

Radebe’s loyalty to Leeds was rewarded with a Testimonial year in 2005 as 38,000 fans came to show their appreciation for the South Africa legend.

Radebe’s Premier League’s 100 best players caption reads:

Radebe was indeed an icon on his native South Africa, and he was similarly beloved at Leeds, where he was a colossus at the heart of their defence. As captain, ‘The Chief’ helped Leeds regularly finish in the top four in the early 2000s, while he was also a tireless campaigner against racism.‘
