With all football in South Africa called to a halt, SoccerClub reflects on the top 10 most-expensive midfielders in the Absa Premiership this season.
SuperSport United duo Aubrey Modiba and Teboho Mokoena, and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Andile Jali and Sibusiso Vilakazi, are joint top of the list for the league’s most expensive midfielders, all valued at R22.9 million, respectively, according to Transfermarkt.
Meanwhile, Bidvest Wits’ Thabang Monare caps the top five list with a valuation of R17.2m, while coming in at Nos 6 and 7 are Mothobi Mvala of Highlands Park and Orlando Pirates’ Fortune Makaringe, who are both on R16.2m.
The bottom three on the list include Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka (R15.3m) in eighth place, Siphesihle Ndlovu of Orlando Pirates (R15.3m) and Wits’ Cole Alexander on R14.3m.
