Lionel Messi won the Golden Ball for the best player at this year’s World Cup after leading Argentina to the title against France on Sunday.

Messi scored twice in the final in Doha, giving him a total of seven goals for the tournament. He also scored in the shootout, which Argentina won 4-2 over France after extra time ended 3-3.

Messi won that award, but Kylian Mbappe won the Golden Boot for scoring the most goals in the tournament. He had eight goals, which was one more than Messi.

After helping Croatia finish third, Luka Modric came in third for the best player award.

Emiliano Martinez of Argentina won the Golden Glove for being the best goalkeeper at the World Cup. His countryman Enzo Fernandez, who is 21 years old, was named the best young player.

Argentina won the World Cup for the third time when they beat France. They also won it in 1978 and 1986.
