Lionel Messi will get what is likely to be his last chance to win the World Cup on Tuesday when Argentina and the current champions France play in Qatar.
After England beat Iran 6-2 to show they could win the title, there will be four games on day three of one of the most controversial World Cups ever.
Messi and the heavily favoured Argentina team play Saudi Arabia first in Group C. Then, in Group D, Denmark takes on Tunisia.
Poland, led by Robert Lewandowski, will play Mexico in Group C in the evening, and France, led by Kylian Mbappe, will play Australia in Group D in the last game of the day.
But forward Messi will get a lot of attention.
The 35-year-old has won almost everything in football and is one of the best players of all time, but he has never won the World Cup, and this is likely his last chance to make up for that.
“It is probably my last World Cup, my last chance to land this great dream that we all have,” Messi told reporters in Doha on Monday.
“I don’t know if this is my happiest moment, but I feel great.
“I’m older, more mature, I want to make the most of everything, to live it with the maximum intensity and to enjoy every moment that I have.
“I trained apart because I had a knock, it was precautionary, but nothing unusual.”
