Charley Hull shot 66 for both of her weekend rounds at Tiburón Golf Club and cruised to victory at the LPGA Tour Championship on Sunday.

‘Yeah, it’s pretty cool feeling,’ she said. ‘Hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but I last won on the LET, the European Tour, like two years ago. Had that dry patch for a few years. Feels good now to get a win.’

The Englishwoman was 19 under par for the tournament and two strokes clear of So Yeon Ryu, whom she overcame with a bogey-free final round.

‘I just really don’t want to blame myself,’ said Ryu. ‘I just take this one as just serendipity, you know.’

Hull set a new tournament scoring record on her way to a maiden LPGA Tour victory, which moved her 11 spots up the World Rankings and into 18th place.

Ariya Jutanugarn tied for fourth place in California on Sunday and snapped up the Money List title as a result. She overtook world number one Lydia Ko as the biggest earner of 2016.

‘It’s too great,’ said Jutanugarn. ‘I really wanted to win Player of the Year, but I never thought it would happen so fast. I’m going to head back to Thailand and get some rest after a good season.’

South Africa’s Paula Reto began the Tour Championship with a promising round of 69, but shot 77 on Friday and 76 on Sunday, which decimated her chances of a top finish.
