Tony Finau’s dream debut at The Masters has already taken several twists and turns, and that’s before an official shot has been hit.
The 28-year-old American is enjoying a fine season on the PGA TOUR, with two-second place finishes and being ranked inside the top 10 in the FedExCup, but is in doubt after an injury to his ankle on Wednesday.
And it came in the most bizarre circumstances:

Reports differ as to Finau’s fitness with the player himself taking to Twitter to somewhat clarify his position.
‘Crazy day. Thanks for thoughts of concern, messages and prayers from all. I’m optimistic,’ he said in response to an update from a journalist on the grounds at Augusta National.
The original tweet painted a much more concerning picture.
‘Indeed @tonyfinaugolf did dislocate his left ankle today during the Par 3 contest but immediately put it back in place. X-rays tonight revealed no breaks. Will have an MRI tomorrow morning. If results are positive and swelling is under control will try to play @TheMasters.’ wrote the Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis.
Last year, world number one Dustin Johnson tripped on the eve of the tournament and was forced to withdraw.
