Former Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale has revealed that he will play in a Pebble Beach Pro-Am event in February, a few weeks after announcing his retirement from football.
Bale, who retired in January, will be at the famous California links course with a number of other celebrities and some of the best golfers in the world.
The 33-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Delighted to announce I will be playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the start of next month! Let’s go.”
Bale, who used to play for Tottenham, won five Champions League titles and three La Liga titles with Real, but he still loved golf, which used to upset Madrid fans.
He posed with a banner that said “Wales, Golf, Madrid. In That Order” while playing for Wales in an international match.
Bale ended his club career with Los Angeles FC. Before he retired, he played for Wales at the World Cup in Qatar last year.
Now he has time to focus on his second favourite sport.
From February 2-5, there will be 156 amateurs and 156 professionals at Pebble Beach. US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and world number five Patrick Cantlay are just two of the professionals who will be there.
