Former Ryder Cup-winning captain Thomas Bjorn was full of praise for the exciting pool of talented golfers from South Africa after another successful weekend for local players.

Bjorn responded to a tweet by the Sunshine Tour, which congratulated former top South African amateurs Wilco Nienaber and Garrick Higgo, following their respective victories on the European Tour and the European Challenge Tour.

Nienaber sealed his maiden win as a professional at the Dimension Data Pro-Am, while Higgo capped a spectacular Spanish Swing with another victory at the Canary Islands Championship – his second win in three weeks.

‘The continued talent to come out if South Africa is astounding … Great young men on their way to the top …,’ said Bjorn in the social- media post.
