Dylan Frittelli has moved past long-time SA No 3 Charl Schwartzel in the latest rankings with both players just inside the top 50.
Frittelli, due to play the Honda Classic on Thursday and then the prestigious WGC-Mexico in a fortnight, has been on a two-week break, but that didn’t stop him moving up two spots to 47th on Monday, one ahead of Schwartzel.
Schwartzel, down four places, did not gain any ranking points after finishing T68 at the Genesis Open at Riveria Country Club. You have to look to the St. Jude Classic in mid-June 2017 for the 2011 Masters winner’s last top-5 finish on any tour. His T2 was followed up by a missed cut at the US Open, the last weekend Schwartzel didn’t feature, but his winless streak continues.
In that same time, Frittelli made his debut Major appearances at The Open and then made the cut at the PGA Championship to go with his AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open and a string of strong performances in key events (Turkish Airlines Open T2, DP World Tour Championship T4, Omega Dubai Desert Classic T6).
There was no movement for Branden Grace (28) after a T37 finish on the PGA Tour this week with Louis Oosthuizen still one place behind his countryman despite not teeing it up.
The top 10 remains unchanged with Bubba Watson jumping 77 places after claiming his 10th PGA Tour win while Joost Luiten climbed 22 places to 68th following his win at the NBO Oman Open at Al Mouj.
Dimension Data Pro-Am winner Jaco Ahlers soared into 273rd place in the world – a rise of 157 places – on the back of his triumph at Fancourt.
