Jim Furyk will take the helm of Team USA at the 2018 Ryder Cup in France, where they’ll look to retain the trophy and win on European soil for the first time in 25 years.

The American has a long history with the biennial match play tournament was competed in nine consecutive Ryder Cups before standing as vice captain at Hazeltine last year.
He took over from Davis Love III as the next leader of Team USA, but respected all that the former captain had done to ensure an American victory on home soil.
‘He’s going to be a very tough act to follow,’ said Furyk. ‘He put a system in place. He put the players behind it. To have him by my side — his advice, his experience, two captaincies and one vice captaincy — is going to be priceless for me.’

Furyk is a former US Open winner and the only man in PGA Tour history to break 60 twice. He ranks 37th in the world and has a chance to become the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963.
‘My main focus and what I’m interested in now is a captain,’ said Furyk. ‘Worrying about where my game is is putting the cart before the horse, in my opinion. My main goal is being the best captain I can, getting the best 12 players and providing an atmosphere to let them succeed.’
Thomas Bjorn will captain Team Europe, who will be eager to get the French fans behind them in a bid to reclaim the cup.
