South African golfing legend Gary Player has made it clear that he would be able to turn Jordan Spieth into the world No 1 in ‘one hour.’

In an interview with Sirius XM, Player said he would focus on a great mindset change with Spieth in order to convincingly make him the best player on the planet.

‘Long hitting is the most overrated thing in golf,’ said Player.

‘The thing that wins a golf tournament is the mind — and we haven’t even begun to understand the mind. There are lot of things that are so hidden, so debatable. There are amazing things about golf … the swing takes one second, and there have been three million books written about it,’ added the three-time Masters champion.

Spieth has been struggling somewhat in the last two years after breaking onto the scene by winning both the Masters and the US Open in 2015. He would go on to become one of the big competitors in all events around the world, which also led to victory at the 2017 Open Championship.

That was also his last victory and a dip in form has resulted in two years without a win for the 26-year-old, who has also dropped to 56th on the Official World Golf Ranking.
