Keith Horne eased into the Myanmar Open with a Thursday round of 66 to share third place with, among others, his countryman Jbe’ Kruger.

The six under par haul by both South Africans saw them one shot off the pace of round one leaders Angelo Que and Azuma Yano in the country formerly known as Burma.

Horne kept a clean sheet while adding three birdies on the front nine and two more on the back at Pun Hlaing Golf Club on Thursday to sign a card of five under par.

Kruger, who tied for second place at the Singapore Open last week, was also bogeyed free and birdied three of the last four holes to make the clubhouse in a share of third.

Defending champion Shaun Norris battled to emulate his form of last year and carded 75 to lie far down the leaderboard. He’ll remember a Saturday 61 in Myanmar in 2016 when he tries to go low on Friday.
