Jacques Kruyswijk topped the South African pile after a storming run into the clubhouse at the Volvo China Open on Sunday at Genzon Golf Club.

The 26-year-old failed to open birdie-birdie for the first time this week as he ran out in all pars until a bogey at the seventh.

He did, however, manage to keep his streak alive at the ninth with his fourth birdie of the championship as he set himself up for a low back nine as he looked to secure some much needed Race to Dubai points.

An inward run of 32 – with birdies at 11, 13, a two at 16 and a closing birdie – helped Kruyswijk finish alongside Yuta Ikeda and Victor Dubuisson at -13; seven back of the playoff number of Mikko Korhonen and third round leader Benjamin Hebert.

A birdie at the first try in extra time helped Korhonen to his second European Tour win and a return inside the world’s top 100.

With three missed cuts in a row on the European Tour, the T11 finish will do his confidence the world of good as he looks to push on as the season heats up.

Erik van Rooyen was left to pick up the pieces after a level par 72 – pushed out by a bogey-bogey finish – saw him drop 21 places to share 29th.

The 54-hole leader last week mustered just two birdies – at 3 and 11 – before closing with a whimper as he lost out on a solid chance to bank some extra Euros.

Haydn Porteous concluded his tournament with a 70 to sit one place behind Van Rooyen.
