Alexander Levy overcame Ross Fisher in a playoff for the Porsche European Open with a birdie on the second extra hole at Bad Griesbach resort to win his third European Tour title.

Jean Hugo had his best finish of his year abroad, claiming seventh place with a final round of 68 to finish at 13 under par, six shots behind the leaders.

Levy shot 62 in the first round and went wire-to-wire until a bogey at the last set him back into a share of first on 19 under par.

He and Fisher both made pars on the first extra trip down the 18th on Sunday, and the Frenchman then won with a birdie three the next time they played the final hole.


The tournament was hampered throughout the week by heavy rain and thick fog, both of which forced suspensions in play and the tournament being reduced to 54 holes.

Hugo was the leading South African, followed by Richard Sterne in a share of 39th, Jaco van Zyl in a share of 49th. Justin Walters and soon-to-be European Tour rookie Dylan Frittelli were part of a tie for 57th place, while Trevor Fisher Jnr was tied for 63rd.
