With a record score of 20 under par, Dustin Johnson’s childhood dream became a reality on Sunday as he was crowned the 2020 Masters champion at Augusta National.

The world No 1 stormed to a five-shot victory for a second Major title in what will arguably go down as one of the greatest triumphs of the green jacket in modern history.

A final-round 68 sealed Johnson’s dominant week at Augusta in Georgia as he became the first player ever in Masters history to reach 20 under par at any point of the event.

A slow start on Sunday, though, definitely stirred some dark memories from Chambers Bay and Royal Portrush in the past, but the American proved why 2020 belonged to him and signified the consistency he achieved over the last five months by regrouping and building on his lead.

Three successive birdies on 13, 14 and 15 all but sealed Johnson’s fate, while the likes of Cameron Smith and Sungjae Im trying their best to catch up with him.

But, an emotional Johnson received his first ever green jacket from defending champion and five time Masters winner Tiger Woods

In the end, Johnson was a class above the rest as Smith and Im secured a share of second spot on 15 under with Justin Thomas coming in fourth on 12 under, while South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli and Rory McIlroy finished a further stroke back in T5.
