If there’s one player who likes The Old Course at St. Andrews it has to be Louis Oosthuizen. The 33-year-old won The Open there in 2010 and was runner-up at the major when it returned to the ‘Home of Golf’ in 2014.

Growing up in Mossel Bay certainly helped Lodewicus Theodorus ‘Louis’ Oosthuizen to understand coastal breezes, which is handy at this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Aside from The Old Course, players tee up at Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, two other venues on The Open rotation. It’s links golf to the max, which suits Oosthuizen just fine.

He also has a knack of coming back strong after taking a rest. Between 2012 and 2014 he won the first tournament he played in each year.

Oosthuizen has been slipping in the world ranking and currently holds 20th spot, despite doing well in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Compleat Golfer’s playing editor has four top-20s in as many starts, including a tie for eighth at the Deutsche Bank Championship a month ago.

He top-25’d in three of the four majors this year, indicating that his game is nearly ready to win again.

The stars are aligned for Oosthuizen this week, even if the Scottish clouds block them out. Expect to find his name amongst the leaders.
