Brooks Koepka chipped in for eagle on the 17th hole to edge ahead and win the Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale on Sunday.

The American started the final round in the hunt and made his intentions clear from start by rolling in an eagle on the third hole.

The 30-year-old, however, began to get closer to the top after the turn, making three consecutive birdies on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes.

It put him within touching distance of overnight-leader Xander Schauffele. But, the eagle on the penultimate hole was enough for Koepka to get ahead of Schauffele, who was battling to stay in touch during the final few holes.

The final-round six-under-par 65 gave Koepka a one-stroke win over Schauffele and Kyoung-Hoon Lee, with a winning score of 19 under par.

It was Koepka’s eighth PGA Tour victory and his first in more than a year and a half, during which he suffered extreme highs and lows.

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen settled for a T11 finish on Sunday after remaining even for the final round.
