Jay Monahan has given up his salary with golf in limbo following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic which has wrecked the golf calendar.

The PGA TOUR boss – who earned as much as $3.9-million in 2017, has suspended his salary while his senior management team agreed to a 25% pay cut. The remaining staff salaries are to be frozen at 2019 levels.

The Tour has cancelled eight events and postponed three others including the year’s first two Major championships. In all, 17 tournaments on other associate tours have been scrapped and as many as 20 postponed without a future date set.

The salary amendments will last until the tour’s future plans have been updated.
