Four-time PGA Tour winner Heath Slocum has been confirmed as part of the strong Lion of Africa Cape Town Open field.
The Sunshine Tour announced on Wednesday that Slocum, who hails from Louisiana, will compete against top young South Africans like defending champion Brandon Stone, Zander Lombard and Haydn Porteous.
The 42-year-old is looking to get his career back on track and according to the organisers, has identified the Sunshine Tour as the ideal event to find some form.
The Cape Town Open will once again be played at Royal Cape Golf Club, the country’s oldest course, and has been boosted by the confirmation that Stone will attempt to defend his title. The young South African, who featured at the 2016 Rio Olympics, is in fine form and will tee up on Thursday at the Turkish Airlines Open.
Denmark’s Morten Orum Madsen will add further international flavour to the R1.5-million event, with the European Tour member looking to add another Sunshine Tour title to his 2013 clinching of the SA Open.
