Justin Rose managed to maintain a slender lead at the top of the Masters leaderboard, while defending champion Dustin Johnson surprisingly missed the cut on Friday.
It was another cracking, yet testing, day of golf at Augusta National where players continued to battle the firm and fast greens.
While some players relished the challenge and managed to make good headway, others completely bombed with a number of big names failing to qualify for the weekend’s action.
Rose was out and about quite early for his second round but struggled to get things going, dropping a few shots on the front nine.
It suddenly became a tight race at the top of the leaderboard but the Englishman responded brilliantly to make up for his earlier fall, carding three birdies on his final six holes to return to seven under par.

Hot on his tail, however, are American duo Will Zalatoris and Brian Harman, as well as Australia’s Marc Leishman – all just one shot behind Rose on six under.
Jordan Spieth (-5), Tony Finau (-5) and Justin Thomas are also firmly contention in Georgia after respective second rounds of 68, 66 and 67.
Bryson DeChambeau managed to crawl his way back into the contest, ending the day on one under following a round of 67.
It was, however, a surprise exit for Johnson, who had a rollercoaster day at Augusta on Friday. The world No 1 constantly had to battle his own mistakes, making seven bogeys, one double bogey and five birdies to sign off on five over par.
Brooks Koepka (+5), Lee Westwood (+5), Dylan Frittelli (+5), Rory McIlroy (+6), Patrick Cantlay (+8) and Jason Day (+9) all crashed out as well.
South Africans Charl Schwartzel (+1), Christiaan Bezuidenhout (+2) and Louis Oosthuizen (+2), however, kept their hopes alive but have a lot of work to do over the weekend if they want to challenge for the top.
