In part two of our Ryder Cup betting angles with Betolimp, WADE PRETORIUS takes a look at the European rookies and makes his bet.
This one is a tough but clear battle between Tommy Fleetwood and Jon Rahm.
Alex Noren, an excellent putter, is an outsider and could find himself playing quite a bit if he’s partnered correctly with hot-headed Tyrrell Hatton and last qualifier Thorbjorn Olesen not tipped to play more than twice.
Betolimp has priced Fleetwood, the reigning Race to Dubai winner, and Rahm, T11 at the Tour Championship at 2.9/1, with Noren next best at 5.25/1.
It’s easy to see why the bookies have done this with both players enjoying course form at Le Golf National. The Spaniard has gone T10 and T6 in the last two years and Tommy won there in 2017.
Both are tipped for high-profile pairings and both could play in all five sessions depending on their starts. Neither has entered the European team room as a rookie in confidence and that could spill on to the course with nerves always a factor in a home cup.
For me, it’s Fleetwood. But many have gone Rahm…
