How South Africa’s large overseas contingent performed over the past week.

LIV Golf Invitational London (LIV Golf Invitational Series)

Charl Schwartzel received the biggest cheque in golf history ($4-million, about R64m) when he won the inaugural LIV Golf event at Centurion Club in Hertfordshire. The 37-year-old finished the 54-hole tournament on seven under par, one shot ahead of countryman Hennie du Plessis, who pocketed $2.125m. Another South African, Branden Grace, finished third on five under ($1.5m).

Schwartzel, Du Plessis, Grace and Louis Oosthuizen – whose one-over, T10 finish earned him $560,000 – also split R3m for winning the team competition as part of Stinger GC.

Oliver Bekker came sixth on two under to make $800,000, JC Ritchie 18th ($226,000), Shaun Norris 24th ($168,000) and Ian Snyman 26th ($164,000).

Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed (DP World Tour/Ladies European Tour)

Jacques Kruyswijk shared 13th after finishing on 11 under par – 13 shots behind Sweden’s Linn Grant, who became the first female winner of a DP World Tour event.

Justin Walters was the next-best South African, on nine under (T20), followed by Zander Lombard and Darren Fichardt (four under, T37), Casandra Alexander (two under, T54th) and Stacy Lee Bregman (two over, T61).

Emporda Challenge (Challenge Tour)

Tristen Strydom shared 20th place after ending on five under – eight shots behind the winner, England’s Liam Johnston.

Luke Jerling finished on three under (T29) and Jayden Schaper eight over (59th).

Jacques Blaauw, Ruan Conradie, Deon Germishuys and Wilco Nienaber all failed to make the cut.

ASO IIZUKA Challenged Golf Tournament (Japan Golf Tour)

Jbe’ Kruger finished in a share of sixth on 20 under par for the tournament, three strokes behind the winner, Tomoyo Ikemura.

The South African earned almost R400,000 for his efforts, which lifted him to 30th on the Japan Golf Tour’s money list.

RBC Canadian Open (PGA Tour)

Dylan Frittelli shared 61st after shooting three over for the tournament in Toronto that was won by Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy (19 under).

Dawie van der Walt finished 70th and last on eight over, while Dean Burmester didn’t make the cut.

Shoprite LPGA Classic (LPGA Tour)

Paula Reto ended the 54-hole tournament on one under, 11 shots behind the winner, Canada’s Brooke Henderson, who beat American Lindsey Weaver-Wright in a sudden-death playoff.

Ashleigh Buhai missed the cut.

BMW Charity Pro-Am (Korn Ferry Tour)

MJ Daffue missed the cut in South Carolina, although it would have given him more time to prepare for his debut appearance in the US Open this week.

American Family Insurance Championship (PGA Tour Champions)

Retief Goosen finished in a share of 35th on four under par in Madison, Wisconsin, 10 shots behind the winner, Thailand’s Tongchai Jaidee.

David Frost was on one over (T65).
