The Southern Hills Country Club in Oklahoma will be the new venue for the 2022 PGA Championship, replacing the Trump National Golf Club.

Two weeks ago the PGA of America confirmed that the Major will move from Bedminster, New Jersey, following a mob attack on the US Capitol by supporters of former president Donald Trump.

The PGA confirmed the Trump course as the original venue for next year’s PGA Championship back in 2014 already, but its board of directors voted to terminate the contract in light of the Washington violence.

‘It has become clear that conducting the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster would be detrimental to the PGA of America brand and would put at risk the PGA’s ability to deliver our many programs and sustain the longevity of our mission,’ PGA of America president Jim Richerson said on the decision.

Southern Hills, though, have hosted a number of Majors in the past with four PGA Championships and three US Opens already under its belt.

Tiger Woods famously won the 2007 PGA Championship at Southern Hills, while South Africa’s Retief Goosen won the 2001 US Open there.
