The Sunshine Ladies Tour has announced another strong addition to its 2024 season, with Konica Minolta South Africa becoming an official sponsor of the Tour as the company seeks to drive a powerful message of supporting women in sports.
“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with the Sunshine Ladies Tour. We believe that collaborative initiatives like this have the power to inspire action and foster inclusivity, both in the workplace and on the sports field,” said Marc Pillay, CEO of Konica Minolta South Africa.
The new sponsorship is another major endorsement of the Sunshine Ladies Tour’s growth. In 2023 alone, the Sunshine Ladies Tour reached a combined audience of 178 817 105 people through television broadcasts on SuperSport, online media, print media, radio media, and social media.
Konica Minolta South Africa’s sponsorship will contribute towards the overall elevation of prize money on the eight-tournament Sunshine Ladies Tour schedule as well as provide office support and technology for the two major Ladies European Tour co-sanctioned tournaments – the Joburg Ladies Open and the Investec South African Women’s Open.
“By investing in women’s golf, Konica Minolta South Africa is championing gender equality and amplifying our commitment to women’s empowerment. This sponsorship underscores our commitment to fostering the development of women in sport and marks a significant milestone as the company delves into the realm of professional golf. Our investment aims to not only bolster this year’s Tour, but also facilitate expanded opportunities for women golfers and pave the way for promising careers in professional golf,” said Pillay.
