This year’s Masters event, which was due to start at Augusta National next week, could possibly be rescheduled for a November date as a New Tour schedule edges closer to a possibility.
A recent report from Golfweek states that negotiations between golf’s main governing bodies are at an advanced stage in order to unveil new dates and schedules for golf competitions across the world.
The New Tour schedule will mean that the Masters will be moved to November, while the Ryder Cup continues with its original date in September at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, USA.
Confirmation of the new plans has, however, already been delayed due to the R&A’s ongoing negotiations to come up with a decision whether the 149th Open Championship, scheduled for 11-16 July in Kent, will be cancelled or possibly postponed.
The USGA’s chief brand officer Craig Annis admits that the possibility for a postponement of June’s US Open, though, is quickly becoming a reality.

‘We have been working with our broadcast partner Fox Sports, the PGA Tour, and other golf organizations to determine what a viable postponement date could be should we need to make that decision.
‘We are currently considering a number of options and expect to be in a position to announce a decision by next week,’ Annis said.
The report further states that the Masters could be staged for a 9 November start in Georgia, while the PGA Championship, usually the final major of the year, will be moved to an earlier date in August in San Francisco.
Earlier this week the 2020 edition of the RBC Canadian Open was also showed with a lot of doubt when the mayor of Toronto announced a complete cancellation of public gatherings until at least the end of July.
