15-time Major champion Tiger Woods has been hospitalised after suffering ‘moderate to critical injuries’ from a serious car accident on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County sheriff’s department said in a statement that Woods was involved in a ‘single-car roll-over traffic collision’ at about 7:12am US time.
His vehicle rolled off the side of the road, sustaining major damage in the process. Woods had to be extricated from the car by paramedics with the ‘jaws of life.’
Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, told GolfDigest that the golfer had suffered a number of leg injuries and is undergoing emergency surgery.
The 45-year-old was in Los Angeles after assisting as a commentator during Sunday’s final round of the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera.
He was due to do a commercial shoot with GolfTV.
