Daniel van Tonder broke into the top 100 of the world for the first time to move to his highest-ever career ranking after victory at the Kenya Savannah Classic.

Van Tonder claimed his very first European Tour title with a playoff victory over Thailand’s Jass Janewattananond at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi last Friday.

Having achieved spectacular success on the Sunshine Tour over the past 12 months, this was the South African’s first breakthrough on the international scene.

The win had him jump from 140th in the Official World Golf Rankings to 73rd for the start of the new week, his highest position ever on the OWGR.

Van Tonder was also payed €145,670 (R2,577,286.87) in prize money for his brilliant efforts to go along with his new ranking position.

There were also moves for Dylan Frittelli and Erik van Rooyen, who managed to reach the knockout phase of this past weekend’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin.

The South African duo were eliminated during the round-of-16 stage and both took home $189,000 (R2,835,226.80) for progressing that far in the event.

As a result, Frittelli moved from 71st to 68th in the OWGR, while Van Rooyen climbed from 68th in the world to 63rd on Monday.
