Jaco van Zyl made six birdies and a hole in one on Friday morning for a round of 65 at Glendower Golf Club, where he took an early share of fifth place in the SA Open.

The Olympian has come agonisingly close to winning on the European Tour and has 14 Sunshine Tour events titles. He moved into the picture at Glendower Golf Club on eight under par after two rounds, two shots behind the morning leader Peter Uihlein.

Van Zyl started his second round on the 10th hole and picked up two birdies and a bogey before arriving at the par-three 17th hole. He made the 16th ace of his career there and won a new BMW i8.

Over the front side he made a further four birdies and gave back no shots to sign for 65, the low round of the week, and a good position going into the weekend.
