Louis was the pick of the bunch

It was a quiet week for the half dozen South Africans in action at the WGC-Mexico as they failed to find the consistency required to compete with the tour’s best.

Louis Oosthuizen

A disappointing 73 to close for Louis who dropped down 16 places to share 25th. Once again, he showed signs of his best with Friday/Saturday returns of 66-69.

Branden Grace

A level par 71 to close after hitting just 11 of the 18 greens in regulation during his final round. Grace dropped ten places to share 33rd.

Erik van Rooyen

The only Saffa to show a green arrow on the leaderboard on Sunday as he moved up five places following an eventful 69. Six birdies and four bogeys left him a shot behind Grace for the championship in 36th place.

Richard Sterne

Failed to bag a bigger cheque as he slipped down the board over the weekend. Opening efforts of 69-68 were offset by 74-76 as he went from challenging for a top five to hanging on during the slide. Three double drops didn’t help on Sunday.

George Coetzee

Plummeted down the standings after his fine 67 to start. He followed that up with rounds of 74-74 and finally a 75 to close. Coetzee finished in a share of 56th place.

Shaun Norris

But for Sanghyun Park’s withdrawal, the Japan Tour golfer finished bottom of the pile.
