Chelsea have completed the re-signing of Brazilian midfielder David Luiz from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain for a fee worth £30-million.
The 29-year-old, who joined PSG from the Blues in 2014 for £50-million, has now signed a three-year contract with the club, according to the Chelsea website.
Luiz says he is delighted to have re-joined the Blues and he insists that he is relishing the chance to help Chelsea succeed under new manager Antonio Conte.
‘I’m delighted to return to Chelsea. We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieved a lot of success,’ Luiz said.
‘I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again.’
The Brazilian defender was a key member of the Chelsea team which won the Champions League and FA Cup in 2012, as well as the Europa League a year later.
The addition of the versatile and talented Brazilian to our current squad provides Antonio Conte with a number of options as the Blues look to build on our strong start.
David Luiz enjoyed a fruitful two seasons in France, winning a host of honours and helping PSG dominate the domestic game there, as well as playing against the Blues in the Champions League in both 2015 and 2016.
