Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba says it was a great feeling to score a brace against Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Red Devils cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Turkish side with goals by Pogba (brace), Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard before former United striker Robin van Persie netted a late consolation goal for his side at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old said he was impressed with the team’s performance and delighted to have completed a brace against Fenerbahce.
‘It’s a great feeling and a great performance from the team. We played very well and scored a lot of goals,’ Pogba told the Manchester United website.
‘We enjoy playing like that and we have to be ready for the big games coming up. We wanted that win and it was very important. Scoring goals for me makes me very happy. I just try to play 100 per cent all the time.’
Pogba says he was pleased with the team’s all-round performance, even though it was a much-changed side from the one that drew 0-0 with Liverpool, with Jose Mourinho making seven changes.
‘We’ve got a lot of experienced players and we’ve done great,’ he added.
‘A few players haven’t played a lot like [Matteo] Darmian and Michael [Carrick] so we played like it was the normal team, which is great. That’s what we need because there’s a lot of games coming up, so, if you switch one player that player has to be ready and that’s what happened.’
Manchester United against Chelsea kicks off at 17:00.
