Adidas has unveiled a new series of cutting-edge boots set to be ready ahead of the 2016-17 season.
The boots will be available in colours described as Solar Red, Solar Yellow and Shock Blue. The boots will be available in the X16.1, ACE 16.1 and Messi 16.1 styles.
The X16.1 has been designed for the world’s fastest players. Addidas’ lightest and most aerodynamic shoe, it features the PURECUT SOCK SYSTEM and SPRINTFRAME outsole to facilitate the best possible fit. The boots will be worn by Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba as well as Luis Suarez.
The ACE 16.1 boot has been designed for unrivalled ball control. The shoe makes use of NON STOP GRIP (NSG) technology to create the best possible surface for ball mastery. The boots will be worn by the likes of Paul Pogba and Bidvest Wits defender Thulani Hlatshwayo.
The MESSI 16.1, inspired by the Argentina superstar, boasts the innovative SPRINTFRAME to boost traction and stability at the lightest possible weight.

‘Led by the fastest boot we’ve ever built, the most agile boot we’ve ever built, and the boot that takes ball control to another level, our new Speed of Light range will be integral to deciding some of the biggest games this season between the PSL’s best players.’
The trio of new boots will be available from July 15 at Adidas retail stores, selected football specialists, or at www.adidas.co.za/football.
