Tottenham Hotspur preserved their unbeaten status in the Premier League on Saturday as Dele Alli scored late to deny West Bromwich Albion a surprise win.
The match got off to a cagey start at the The Hawthorns as Christian Eriksen fired off the first shot on the 16 minute mark but saw his long rang effort well saved.
Ben Davies then had a shot blocked five minutes later before Matt Phillips headed wide for West Brom with 26 minutes played.
Spurs upped the pressure around the half hour mark as Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela failed to convert before Dele Alli had a further effort well saved.
Spurs continued to pressure as the game approached half time but Davies and Alli were denied yet again before Eriksen had another long shot stopped just short of the interval.
West Brom started the second half well as Craig Dawson headed an effort wide after 50 minutes. Phillips then fired over the bar for the Baggies six minutes later before Moussa Sissoko hit Spurs’ first chance of the half wide just after the hour mark.
With both sides struggling to penetrate, a couple of half chances for Eriksen and a further chance for West Brom’s Claudio Yacob were in the offing over the resulting period. Then, with 82 minutes gone, West Brom took the lead as Nacer Chadli netted from close range.
With time running out, Vincent Janssen was denied as Spurs chased a late equaliser, but there was joy for the side as Alli snatched a goal to level the score in the 89th.
Janssen had a late chance to complete a remarkable comeback for Spurs but was unable to finish, ensuring the game ended with the score level at 1-1.
