Arsenal missed out to go top of the Premier League table following their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Lillywhites came close to breaking the deadlock in the 21st minute, but striker Harry Kane’s close-range header flew inches wide of the upright.
The Gunners had to wait until the 30th minute for their first chance at target when Alexis Sanchez set up Alexi Iwobi in the box, but the Nigerian forward’s effort was guided straight to Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Arsene Wenger’s side came close to scoring in the 39th minute when Theo Walcott hit the woodwork with an effort from 25 yards out.
However, the Gunners eventually broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer headed Mesut Ozil’s free kick into his own net to make it 1-0.
Five minutes into the second half Spurs were awarded a penalty when Moussa Dembele was brought down by Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny. Harry Kane stepped up and converted the spot kick to level matters at 1-1.
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey replaced Francis Coquelin in the 64th minute and 10 minutes later Spurs responded by bringing on striker Vincent Janssen for Kane as the visitors pushed for a winner.
Both sides sought the all-important goal in the closing stages, but it went abegging and the scoreline remained 1-1 until the final whistle.
