Arsenal and Liverpool contest the first big clash of the new Premier League season while champions Leicester City face Hull City and Manchester United travel to Bournemouth.
The season’s first blockbuster tie sees Jurgen Klopp and his revitalised Reds travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on a depleted Arsenal on Sunday.
The Gunners are desperately short on defensive options following the untimely injury of centre back Gabriel Paulista, who has joined the likes Per Mertesacker on the treatment table, while French star Laurent Koscielny is yet to regain full fitness.
Liverpool, for their part, will be hoping their new-look squad can hit the ground running following an erratic pre-season that saw them thump Barcelona 4-0 before capitulating by the same scoreline to Mainz. Exciting big money signing Sadio Mane is expected to star for the Reds on his debut.
On Saturday, defending champions Leicester will kickstart the new season when they take on Hull City. The Foxes will be hoping to bounce back following a 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Community Shield last weekend.
The Red Devils are in action on Sunday. Jose Mourinho will be hoping his new additions can get the job done against Bournemouth but will be without world record signing Paul Pogba due to suspension.
Meanwhile, United’s crosstown rivals Manchester City will face Sunderland on Saturday as Pep Guardiola begins his era at the club, while Chelsea will have to wait for Monday evening before they take to the field against West Ham United.
