Former Argentina superstar Diego Maradona believes Welsh wizard Gareth Bale has contributed more to Euro 2016 than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Los Blancos teammates will go head-to-head when Wales face Portugal in Euro 2016 on Wednesday and Maradona believes Wales are not to be underestimated.
Furthermore, Maradona is convinced that Bale has contributed more to his side than Ronaldo has for Portugal in the tournament thus far.
‘This will also be a clash between the left and right flanks of Real Madrid,’ Maradona wrote in his column for the Times of India .
‘It’s a team game, where you do look up to individuals like Ronaldo and Bale, if you have them. Ball control, speed and shooting make them special.’
Bale has netted three times in the tournament thus far, while Ronaldo is a strike aback with just a pair of goals.
‘Their contributions will always be crucial because they can create that decisive moment. So far, Bale has contributed more to his team’s progress than Portugal have got from Ronaldo,’ Maradona said.
‘But individual spark often becomes decisive. Portugal have someone capable of providing that [Ronaldo]. At 31, he would be wondering if this is his last shot at international,’ Maradona concluded.
The match between the sides will be played at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, Lyon.
Kick-off is at 21:00.
