Swiss Super League side FC Sion have confirmed that they have been in talks with Liverpool over a move for want-away striker Mario Balotelli.
The Italian striker has been training alone after being informed he is not part of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp’s plans for this season.
Balotelli has been linked with a return to Italy having spent last season on loan at AC Milan, although proposed moves to Chievo and Sassulo have failed to materialise, according to the Guardian.
The 26-year-old is understood to be weighing up a move to FC Sion after the Swiss club’s president Christian Constantin confirmed they are in talks to sign the striker on loan from Liverpool.
‘We are in talks with the Reds,’ Constantin said.
‘I don’t know whether a deal will happen or not, but talks are underway. We’ve asked for him on loan.’
Over the course of his career, Balotelli has scored 98 goals and assisted a further 31 from 277 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Lumezzane, Inter Milan, Manchester City, AC Milan and Liverpool.
