New Barcelona signing Lucas Digne has expressed his joy over completing a move to the Catalan giants.
The French international has joined the club for an initial fee of €16.5-million which could rise to €20.5-million based on variables.
‘Going to Barcelona is truly a dream move for me. Actually, quite literally it is a dream,’ he told Goal.
‘Of course it is a dream to go to the greatest club in the world. And at only 22 years old, I now see myself as a part of not only the present but also the future of this fantastic team. That is an amazing thought,’ the defender revealed.
Digne struggled to make his mark at Paris Saint-Germain but made an impressive impact at Roma having spent the last season at the club on loan.
‘After a great season at Roma, it is the perfect time for me to take the next step in my career. In my two seasons with PSG, I never felt right there,’ he admitted.
‘One year ago, I decided to tell PSG that I wanted to leave the club. They told me that they would have to go out and get another left-back then, and they did.’
The player remains convinced his new side are the best in the world.
‘To me, Barcelona are the greatest club in the world. Their style of play, and winning the Spanish championship six times in the last eight seasons – that proves a lot, doesn’t it?
‘And I see the Spanish league as the best in the world right now, which all the good Spanish results in Europe have shown now for years.’
Digne made 42 appearances for Roma last season.
