Real Madrid has allegedly made a colossal €65-million bid for Bayern Munich star David Alaba as they bid to build upon their Champions League winning side.

The Bavarians are reportedly yet to respond to the renewed offer having already waved away a previous bid believed to have been in the region of €50-million, reports AS.

The Austrian international – who was part of the side eliminated in the group stage of Euro 2016 following a poor tournament – is believed to have been identified as the club’s priority singing this transfer window.

The move for the 24-year-old seems a strange one given Los Blancos already have Marcelo on their books. Alaba, who plays predominantly as a left back, can however also play in midfield.

Should a deal be struck between the sides for the suggest fee, the transfer would make Alaba the most expensive defender in history. The current record fee is currently the €62.6-million paid by Paris Saint-Germaine to acquire the services of David Luiz back in 2014.
