Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin says the Gunners ‘knew how to play’ against Chelsea following their 3-0 thrashing at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners secured their first Premier League victory over the Blues in five years after first-half goals by Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, and Mesut Ozil but the Spanish right back said the whole team played their part.
The 21-year-old says it was great to see his side work as a unit and remained ‘comfortable’ throughout the match, which he believes was a crucial part of their strategy.
‘It was a great game, I think the team started really, really well and you know, we picked up on the last few victories of the past week and it’s great that the team is in such a great shape,’ Bellerin told the Arsenal website.
‘It’s great when it’s a game like this when you can enjoy, I think the fans have enjoyed it a lot and you’re comfortable and you get the goals. And that’s something that the team needed and something we’ve been working for – it’s great to see this machine work.’
Bellerin continued to say the Gunners performance are improving every game and he believes that Arsene Wenger’s tactics were proven against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.
‘The team has been starting the games with a lot of intensity and good tempo and that’s what we’ve done today. I think we knew the game plan and we knew how to play them – that’s shown on the pitch,’ he added.
Arsenal will now turn their attention to the Champions League when they host Basel at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 20:45.
