Manchester United trio Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw, and Chris Smalling have been named in Sam Allardyce’s first England squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.
Rooney, England’s all-time leading scorer with 53 goals, is poised to add to his 115 caps when the Three Lions get their qualification campaign underway in Trnava next Sunday, reports the Manchester United website.
Meanwhile, Shaw could be involved for his country for the first time since September last year following his recovery from a double leg-break that sidelined him for nine months.
Smalling is also in line to feature in the for England in Group F, having been a regular starter for England at centre back alongside Gary Cahill.
Following the Slovakia game, the Three Lions will take on a double-header in October against Malta and Slovenia in a group that also consists of Scotland and Lithuania.
