Middlesbrough negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of defender Neven Subotic have broken down.
Boro have agreed a fee of around £8-million with the Bundesliga club, and the Serbia international visited the club’s facilities earlier this month.
Boro boss Aitor Karanka was hoping Subotic would travel to Spain to join up with his squad at their pre-season training camp in Marbella but that is not now expected to happen, according to SkySports.
Meanwhile, Alvaro Negredo is expected to join up with the Boro squad on Wednesday.
The Valencia striker has agreed to join the club on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy the striker next season.
The former Manchester City player is likely to have his medical with Middlesbrough in Marbella.
