Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro has expressed his frustration at an ongoing injury problem that has ruled him out of action for the side.
The Brazillian, who has struggled with a fractured leg this season, admits he is itching to return to Zinedine Zidane’s side amid what is a growing fitness crisis within the Los Blancos squad.
Starters Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos have been ruled out of action for the next month with knee complaints, while James Rodriguez has been sidelined with a calf problem.
Casemiro suffered his injury in his side’s 2-0 win over Espanyol back on September 18 and the side has notably struggled in his absence, failing to keep a clean sheet and drawing four games in succession.
‘The injury hurts a lot because it has no treatment, the bone has to heal by itself,’ he told Onda Cero. ‘Every night I wear a magnet that provides a current. I can do many things in the pool to keep my fitness.
‘If it were up to me, I would return tomorrow, but it is a complicated injury. We have had a lot of bad luck. Marcelo, Modric and Sergio Ramos have also been injured,’ he noted.
Casemiro’s importance to Real has increased since Zidane took over as manager of the side, where he has been utilised at the base of a 4-3-3 formation.
‘Zidane, from day one, told me to keep working and that I would get my chance,’ the Brazilian said. ‘Zidane knows what it’s like to be a player. For me he has not changed.
‘He speaks as a player on a personal level, but in training he speaks as a coach. He is on a very good path, with a great understanding of the game,’ he concluded.
