Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has revealed that he is on the verge of signing a new contract with Ligue 1 side Paris-Saint Germain.
The 29-year-old, who has been linked with several European clubs over the past few years, has most recently been linked with a move to Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian.
Cavani has revealed that he is set to renew his contract with the French champions after an agreement has been reached between him and the club
‘It’s true that I am close to renewing [my contract] with PSG. After long conversations, an agreement has been reached,’ Cavani said.
‘Various aspects, of which my brother has been in charge, have been finalised – I concern myself with playing football.
‘I hope to continue at PSG and to do so with the same desire and the same passion. I hope to achieve great things here.’
The Uruguayan striker’s current contract with the club is set to expire in 2018 and he is now expected to sign a two-year extension, which will keep him at the club until 2020.
