Chelsea secured their 13th consecutive victory following their 4-2 win over Stoke City while Manchester United claimed a late 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Blues got off to a slow start during the opening exchanges of the match and their first opportunity at goal came in the 19th minute when Grant produced a fine save to deny Diego Costa’s volley.
Ten minutes later, Stoke had a chance of their own to take the lead when Charlie Adam saw his headed effort guided wide of Thibaut Courtois goal from eight-yards out.
However, the home side eventually broke the deadlock in the 35 minute when Gary Cahill rose the highest to put the ball into the back of the net from close range to make it 1-0.
Stoke responded well and levelled matters shortly after the half-time interval when Bruno Martins Indi put the ball into the back of the net from a Peter Crouch assist.
Antonio Conte’s side then took the lead for the second time in the match in the 58th minute when Eden Hazard set up Willian before he fired the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-1.
The visiting side levelled matters for the second time in the 67th minute when Peter Crouch turned home a cross from Mame Biram Diouf from close range.
However, the Blues restored their lead two minutes later when Willian slotted the ball home after being slipped through by Cesc Fabregas.
The Premier League top goal scorer Costa all but sealed the victory in the 86th minute when he shrugged off to Stoke players before guiding the ball past Grant to make it 4-2 as they clinched their 13th consecutive victory in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Two late goals from Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba did enough to see Manchester United claim a 2-1 comeback victory over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.
Grant Leadbitter opening the scoring for Boro in the 66th minute when he was set up by Alvaro Negredo before he volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
However, Martial levelled matters in the 85th minute before United all but sealed the victory two minutes later when Juan Mata picked out Pogba, who headed the ball into the top corner to hand his side all three points at home.
A hat-trick by Andre Gray inspired Burley to a 4-1 victory over struggling side Sunderland at Turf Moor while Leicester City clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over West Ham United through a goal by Islam Slimani.
West Bromwich Albion came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Southampton to move above them in the top-half of the table. Shane Long opened the scoring before half-time before Matt Phillips equalised in the 43rd minute before providing the assist for Hal Robson-Kanu who sealed the victory for his side in the 50th minute of the match.
While Bournemouth cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium through goals by Benik Afobe, Ryan Fraser and Joshua King, who added the third late on to seal the win for his side as they walked away with all three points.
