Chelsea have made a £38-million bid to signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports.
The 25-year-old is wanted by new Blues boss Antonio Conte to strengthen his defensive options but Napoli are yet to respond to their offer, according to SkySports.
The Senegalese defender’s agent Bruno Satin confirmed that the Blues are interested in capturing the services of his client, who is reluctant to sign a new deal with the Serie A club.
‘Chelsea still want him and there’s time to close the deal,’ Satin said.
‘We’ve decided to leave for economic reasons. After what happened to Higuain, though, Kalidou will not be leaving for Juventus or another competitor.’
Koulibaly joined Napoli from Genk in 2014 and his current contracted with the club runs until 2019.
The Senegalese international feature in a total of 42 games last season for the Italian club, while creating two assists in the process.
Should he make the move to Stamford Bridge, Koulibaly will become Conte’s third signing of the summer alongside Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante.
