“Manchester City kept up with the early pace as they held off West Ham 3-1 to keep their 100% record alive at home on Sunday.

City made their early dominance count as Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the seventh minute. The England international finding the back the of the net after great work from Nolito and David Silva.

It was the home crowd that had further reason to cheer after Fernandinho headed home from Kevin de Bruyne’s cross. In the 33rd minute De Bruyne almost made it three but his bold effort deflected just wide.

Pep Guardiola’s men went into the break two goals to the good as they ensured the Citizens kept up the early pace with Chelsea and arch-rivals Manchester United.

Michael Antonio gave the visitors something to shout about when he reduced the deficit in the 57th minute as the Hammers grew into the game.

Samir Nasri, much maligned by the press in the previous few weeks, came on for Nolito and was a danger and almost made his presence felt in the 85th minute but had his shot cleared off the line.

Sterling grabbed his second in injury time leaving the hosts top of the table heading into the international break.

In the earlier match, West Brom were held goalless at home to Middlesborough.
