City made their early dominance count as Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the seventh minute. The England international finding the back the of the net after great work from Nolito and David Silva.

It was the home crowd that had further reason to cheer after Fernandinho headed home from Kevin de Bruyne’s cross. In the 33^rd minute De Bruyne almost made it three but his bold effort deflected just wide.
